Vegan Friendly Beers

With an increasing number of Irish people choosing to adapt to vegan and vegetarian lifestyles it can be difficult trying to figure out the drinks that are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Fortunately there a a lot of vegan friendly drinks out there to cater for most tastes with more than 40 independent Irish craft brewery’s across the island that brew vegan/vegetarian friendly beer. Below are some of the nicer options available for our vegan drinkers.

George Killian’s Irish Red: Made by Coors this is a great tasting vegan beer that goes down really easy and has a cool looking amber colour when poured. Although it might smell quite strong it doesn’t taste overpowering like a lot of craft beers do. This drink would make the transitions from Budweiser to vegan friendly beer that much easier as it is a very inoffensive middle of the road beer for vegas and and vegetarians alike.

Samuel Adams: All of the Samuel Adam range of drinks are vegan friendly beers, except those that contain honey as an added ingredient. This is great news as they have a broad selection such as cream stout,  Irish Red and a delicious Rebel IPA.

Samuel Smith’s Imperial Stout: For all of the vegan stout lovers out there Samuel Smith’s Imperial Stout is something to behold. Although it is brewed just across the water in England this vegan stout can be difficult to find in Ireland although perhaps its for the best that it is not so readily available seeing as it packs a massive 7.0% abv. Three of these and you are going to be in the form of your life , just be wary of the hangover that you are almost certainly guaranteed to have. Nobody wants to wake up the morning after a night out feeling as sick as small hospital or a plane to Lourdes.

For all of the vegan cider drinkers out there Bulmers Irish Pear Cider and their Berry flavour are great vegan alcohol options radily found in Ireland and abroad. They both taste very sweet and are incredibly refreshing but after a few of these bad boys you can expect an almighty sugar crash. Bulmers/Magners also do a Spiced apple and Honey cider that is suitable for vegetarians however it is not a vegan friendly cider because it contains honey.
